Excerpts:
DALLAS, Texas -- Northwestern got off to a winning start during its trip to the Lone Star Duals tournament Saturday by downing Air Force, 26-15, thanks to a run of six straight victories between 149 and 197 pounds. The 'Cats lost their ensuing match against No. 11 Oklahoma before rallying for a 23-18 victory over Brown--despite spotting the Bears 12 team points due to forfeits--thanks in part to freshman Marcus Shrewsbury's overtime win in the final bout.
Lacking a 125-pounder and a true heavyweight during Saturday's matches due to injuries, Northwestern (4-6-1) made certain to pick up the slack at the middle weights against Air Force beginning with Eric Metzler's 9-1 victory over Tyler Untrauer at 133 pounds. Metzler was able to amass 1:07 in riding time to extend his final winning margin to the eight points necessary to qualify for a major decision.
Northwestern 26, Air Force 15
Oklahoma 40, Northwestern 3
Northwestern 23, Brown 18
